Our Process
Now that you have seen how we are different, how much our clients love us, and all the services we provide at The Law Office of Sandhya Tulshyan, be reassured that we have designed our services in a unique way to help you as your trusted advisor for your immigration, bankruptcy, and estate planning needs, for your generations to come. Our approach, planning process, and your appointment options are outlined below.
Estate Planning
You love your family, you know the importance of protecting your hard-earned assets for them because you want to keep them out of conflicts and courts, and you know your family deserves the guidance, protection, and love we provide for a lifetime.
As you get started, it is important to know how our approach is unique because we are different from other law firms.
Family Legacy Planning with Existing Plan Review
If you already have an estate plan, whether a Will or a Trust, we can review it for you and update to reflect your current situation. We will also incorporate key elements of our Family Legacy Planning to go over the current laws and how they may apply in your situation or revised goals if you have any. Please make sure that we have your existing documents and our pre-session worksheet in our office at least a week before your meeting so that we can review them prior to meeting with you. You must also provide changes to your assets and a summary of any other changes in your situation after your estate plan were last updated.
Family Legacy Planning with No Existing Plan
A family legacy plan is essential to protect the family you love and everything you have accumulated through your life (and continue to do so). We walk you through this important and detailed planning step by step to ensure you are well educated about your choices and are able to put together a plan that best suits your needs and wishes.
Below is a summary of what to expect as you embark on this journey with us and reach your objective of shielding your loved ones and belongings from courts and conflicts.
Step 1: Schedule Your Initial Family Legacy Planning Session
- We will schedule your initial Family Legacy Planning Session with our attorney and send you our intake sheet to complete and return before your appointment.
- We strongly recommend that you bring all your information, both personal and financial, to make the meeting worthwhile and get answers to your questions.
- If you need to reschedule your appointment, you will need to provide us at-least 3 days advance notice so that we can open the calendar for others.
Step 2: Plan Your Legacy (Initial Planning Session)
- We will educate you about the existing laws and its application in your personal situation.
- We will discuss difficult questions and answers related to different aspects of life and death.
- We will help you choose the best estate planning tool to meet your goals and needs, with our attorney’s guidance and recommendation, to give you the peace of mind that your family would be protected.
- If you decide to proceed with your Estate Plan
- We will schedule your next design session where we will customize your plan per your needs and goals.
- We will send you the detailed worksheet to be completed and returned prior to your design session.
Step 3: Customize Your Plan (Design Session)
- In this session we will design your customized plan, keeping your family dynamics, goals and needs in perspective.
- We will discuss and assign the roles of the fiduciary, guardian, trustee, and distributions.
Step 4: Review Your Plan
- We draft the plan and send it to you for review.
Step 5: Execute Your Plan
- You sign and execute the documents.
- At this point, your family and your assets will be protected in the case of your death or incapacitation.
In most traditional law firms, your work and the relationship with the law firm ends here. With us, it is the beginning of our relationship with your family. We are not done by just providing you with the documents, and this is where we set ourselves apart.
Step 6: Fund Your Plan
- Funding of your trust is an essential part of your estate plan to make sure it works the way you have intended it to work.
- The act of funding involves reassigning your key assets and accounts to the newly created Trust, as legally allowed, to protect them for your loved ones.
- We guide and verify that all your assets are transferred and are on track because if your assets are not owned in the right way, all will be a waste.
- If you have any questions when funding your plan, we are always available to answer your questions.
Step 7: Take Possession of Your Legacy Portfolio
- We hand you your final Legacy Portfolio with all your estate plan documents.
With your Legacy Portfolio in hand, you will feel the relief knowing your assets and loved ones are fully protected due to this important effort you undertook. Most of our clients express a great sense of satisfaction and peace of mind that they experience after completing the process.
Step 8: Maintain and Review Your Plan Periodically
The maintenance phase of your plan begins after you have signed and funded your plan. Our office believes that it is of utmost importance to stay current with all your changes in assets inventory, and keep your plan updated with changes in laws and changes in your personal situation to ensure that the plan never fails. We help you maintain your plan by providing tools that helps you keep your plan updated.
We offer to review your plan once every three years at no additional charge, to determine if any potential changes in law or your situation warrants a change.
How Much Do the Sessions Cost?
If you want to schedule an initial Family Legacy Planning Session or if you have existing estate planning documents that you want us to review and potentially incorporate with new plan or amend, please call us for the consultation fee.
We will be blocking time with our attorney exclusively for you that cannot be availed by any other prospect. Therefore, we request you to complete and return the intake sheet prior to your appointment and keep your appointment commitment.
We believe in providing high degree of service to our existing and potential clients and we limit the number of new clients we see each week so we can provide quality service and not just a document transaction service. We are a good fit for families who are looking for a long-term relationship with us as their trusted advisor.
